Our Work

Have you experienced the emotional difficulty of watching a loved one age to the point where daily tasks become daunting chores? How about seeing your autistic child suffer from social anxiety in public? Every charity is some marriage of a perceived need in the world around you, and that is what we at Paws & Hearts of Gold strive to do through our work with dogs, and their humans in need. The need we saw was the people around us struggling through tasks that would be mundane for some, tasks that could easily be performed by a well trained dog. Training a dog to do something as simple as covering or uncovering their feet, or training routine tasks as profound as getting their phone when they can not reach it can add quality of life, dignity, and encouragement to our most, or our loved ones most emotionally taxing moments.

Service Dog Classes

Our classes focus on life skills for dogs and handlers.

  • Public transport from Uber to airplanes. Dogs learn to travel and move around in public while they perform their job and minimize their impact on the public and private services we use.

  • Respecting Private and Public Spaces. Handlers and dogs learn to operate in public spaces without negatively impacting those around them and how to patronize private businesses while promoting goodwill for the Service Dog Program.

  • Purpose Training we are not doctors and we don’t treat diseases. We do however train dogs to specific tasks that handlers express as needs. Item retrieval, physical assistance, alert or signaling for potential problems as well as many more with as much variety as our experience will allow.

Fully Trained Dogs

Sometimes our customers need more than just a coach. Some needs are more complex and include issues like fixed income due to age or disability. Limited ability to participate in classes in training. Partial or complete physical inability to train a dog. This work requires dogs that can do service type work for any hander

Service Dog Education

We believe that education is our best bet for a bright future for our program. Education extends beyond just dogs and handlers to the public at large. Classes for businesses, kennel handling, doggy first-aid/CPR. Are all in development to further our mission and goals.
